thinking about things large and small

I had this dream the other night about a new type of energy technology that would solve the whole oil thing and the whole global warming thing, and that it was much closer than anyone had anticipated and it is much more readily distributed that anyone had originally conceived. However, I cannot at all remember any details about what it was, how it is made, etc. Sort of a "wishful thinking dream", I think.

Things I've done recently: visited New York City; got my car's oil changed; organized some of the pile of music-related stuff I have; threw a football with my 6 year old son; drove with all the windows down (in November, this is rare); picked out the tracks for the next CD.

Thanksgiving is upon us...

I have a lot to be thankful for. When thinking about Thanksgiving, I always like to refer to this ... but then I've found this which claims to 'debunk' the former, but which basically agrees in large part with the former and enriches it with detail and clarity.

Working on new DIY album and video...

Putting some tracks together for the third Utenzil CD. Y'know, they call them 'albums' and I see them as that-- snapshots of the current musical state the project. There will be a track captured at a live improvised performance, captured real time home studio improvisations. There will be more 'formed stochastic' on this CD, one maybe two 'formed songs', along the lines of the previous CDs.

Digital sales on iTunes are doing surprisingly well, this is happy. Also, I have abandoned trying to sell my physical CDs at the same price levels as major labels, because I don't need to do that to take a per-item cut that is in excess of what the typical label would give an artist. My goal is to provide a quality DIY CD at a lower cost.

I will be posting a video up somewhere that features a brief improvisiation on my DIY midi controller, the Guitron:

that's all for now...

Missed another UEMA anniversary!

Now, darn it, How could one overlook the anniversary of this mighty blog?? Two years ago Utenzil's Electronic Music Adventure sprang forth, not unlike Pegasus from the severed head of Medusa, to enlighten the world and speedily bear the heroic Utenzil to fame and fortune.

Since then, two albums, availability on dozens of music sites, a plethora of live shows. And a third album in the works, very soon, a video for the web coming soon also...

as I soar ever higher on the wings of the wobbly illusion that is....
